Yoga and Writing Retreat – Bodhi Khaya – 17 to 19 February 2017

Imagine waking up in the beautiful countryside, then going off to do a gentle integral hatha yoga class, which includes pranayama and yoga nidra, before enjoying a delicious, vegetarian breakfast. You then grab your pen and paper as you immerse yourself in a three-hour session of writing exercises to spark creativity, provide deep soul healing, and perhaps even start your book! This will be followed by a visioning exercise where you will make your own fold-out dream map. A nourishing lunch will then be served and you can spend the afternoon taking a walk in the gardens, experience a labyrinth, or book yourself in for an aromatherapy massage. After supper you can socialise with like-minded people or just curl up in bed with a good book, with the sounds of nature to soothe you to sleep.

Cost: R2950 (includes accommodation for 2 nights and meals)

Aromatherapy Massages: R300 for 45mins – to be booked separately (limited space – first come first serve)

What Kind of Yoga will the Classes be?

Integral Hatha Yoga – which include asanas, pranayama and yoga nidra. Students who have been doing yoga for a while will enjoy these classes as they focus on increasing flexibility, building strength and toning the body. While the classes include a few small vinyasa sequences, the overall class is gentle, focusing on controlling the breath and sinking a little further into the poses.

Writing Session on Saturday

In this session we will explore ways of accessing your inner voice through writing. Bring your journal and an open heart. We will be using prompts, images, music, photographs, and objects to help you bring your words and feelings to life. In this safe space you will be encouraged to go as deep as you wish – or you are welcome to simply enjoy the writing process.

Writing Session on Sunday

On day 2 we will be taking out our scissors, clue, cardboard and a whole stack of magazines. You will be guided through a meditation, followed by an intuitive selection of pictures, and then you will create a beautiful fold-out vision board that you can carry with you every day.

Additional Aromatherapy Massage

There are optional aromatherapy massages in the afternoons which are 45 minutes long. Celeste’s skilled hands will work gently, massaging into areas that feel stressed and hold tension. You can simply relax and let your mind wander, as she uses a calming blend of aromatherapy oils, aimed at bringing a sense of balance to your body and releasing negative emotions, such as anxiety.

Bodhi Khaya – The Venue

Bodhi Khaya is situated on Baviaans Fonteyn Farm, the oldest in the area. In 1791 the farm was granted to Dirk Cloete, son of Hendrick Cloete, owner of Groot Constantia and one of the Cape’s largest landowners at the time.
The land has been divided, changed and re-shaped since then, but the present owner, Georgina Hamilton, has carefully created a sanctuary for those who wish to explore the thoroughfares of the heart and mind. Today Bodhi Khaya is an open and welcoming spiritual home for all.
